About me

Hi, my name is Matilda or Tilly for short. My pronouns are she/her.
I have lived in the southside of Glasgow for nine years and counting.

I moved into birth work following my own experience of becoming pregnant and giving birth to my son, Nova, in 2020, with support from a doula. From feeling overwhelmed and uninformed at the beginning, to thrilled and empowered about the prospect of giving birth – having support from a doula cemented my choice of becoming a doula myself with the intention of supporting other birthing people and their personal choices.

Most of us have little knowledge about birth. More than often birth is linked with confusion, a lack of understanding, or worry. Support for birth can be limited or difficult to access due to societal barriers and systems in which we live.

However, birth is universal. If you’ve not given birth before, you will know someone who has. For me, being a doula is about care and support, but it is also about activism and policy change.  The culture of birth matters, as well as understanding how our bodies work.

As a doula I work independently, and provide a continuity of care. As well as emotional and physical support, I offer informational support with the intention of equipping you with the knowledge needed to advocate for your rights and navigate the system.

I am not a medical professional. The care I provide is flexible and unbiased, and is focused primarily on your well-being.

Rachel Reed, Childbirth Physiology

Online course which presents essential evidence-based information about how physiological birth works.

The Original Birth Connection, led by the wonderful Alex Burner.
I chose the OBC because I could see that the training was trauma informed and intersectional. It included a series of bi-weekly sessions covering a range of topics, self-directed coursework, mentoring, and the following masterclasses:
> Cultural Competency and Advocacy, led by Illy Morrison (Mixing up Motherhood)
> Perinatal Trauma, led by Hayley Coburn (Mother of Pearl Doula)
> LQBTQ+ Competency In Birth and Beyond, led by AJ Silver (The Queer Birth Club)
> Caesarean Birth, led by Carolyn Holt (The Caesarean Birth Specialist)
> Tongue Tie and Infant Feeding, led by Carmelle Gentle (The Tongue Tie Centre)

I offer support as a doula in and around Glasgow. I have a driving license.
